"...and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus". Romans 3:24 NIV
 
Our church provides a Fall Family day for the community. They provided rides, corn maze, games, lunch, prizes, candy, and more. In order to bless in love, we charged nothing for the community.
 
We made it clear that it was free.
 
A new attendee was skeptical and told the Pastor he was waiting for the bait and switch. He found none. Everything was, indeed, free so he offered to make a donation to the church.
 
Some people will not accept Jesus’ selfless sacrifice and grace on their behalf.
 
Although it sounds humble to say “I can’t accept God’s gift,” we should remember it wasn’t “free.” It cost Him His Son. But when we admit we need a Savior and redemption, we can be assured the price was fully paid.

“But He gives us more and more grace [through the power of the Holy Spirit to defy sin and live an obedient life that reflects both our faith and our gratitude for our salvation]. Therefore, it says, “GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD and HAUGHTY, BUT [continually] GIVES [the gift of] GRACE TO THE HUMBLE [who turn away from self-righteousness].” - James 4:6 Amplified Bible
 
I like how the Amplified brings out the richness of this passage, but notice how the Holy Spirit is the source for how grace provides us the power to overcome sin and live a life of obedience.
 
When you think you can overcome sin and live a life of obedience without grace, notice two things here:
1. God opposes you (why?)
2. Because he sees it as being proud and haughty.
 
So turn away from self-righteousness, humble yourself, and watch how God’s gift of grace will supernaturally enable you to break sins' power and live a life that’s pleasing to Him!

The Word of God is a faith builder. The more you hear and read it, the more encouraged in your faith you become.
 
The Word of God is also likened unto a seed that is sown into our hearts. One seed will bear much fruit if the conditions are right. And the fruit will contain more seed and start regenerating itself.
 
In the same way, the word of God planted in your heart will bring its abundance into your life proportionally to what has been sown. And the fruit of these blessings will regenerate into the lives of others. Plant the Word of God into your heart today!
