We continue our weekly honor of Black History Month - honoring the incredible victories God has performed in and through the African American community.This week, we honor a champion of the faith: Lucy Farrow. She was born a slave and flourished into a powerful revivalist, most notably in the Azusa Street Revival. She's especially beloved in Charismatic traditions for the way spiritual gifts followed her ministry. Wherever she went, so did God's supernatural power.Join us in praising God for her life, ministry, and legacy. Remember that no matter who you are or where you come from, God's gifts are for ALL of His children. Just like Lucy, be willing to say "Here am I. Send me!"

The life of Jesus is our model for how we should live. And sometimes, that model calls us to roll up our sleeves to do the work most of us prefer to avoid. When it comes to our love for each other, Jesus sets the example of washing each others feet - a beautiful picture of love, service, forgiveness, and redemption. Dive in with us as reflect on this story and prepare our own hearts for the same work.

As a church, our heart is to celebrate Black History month within our body and with the diverse network of churches in our region and beyond. When we look at the Scriptures, we see God's truth about race:* It was God who created race, and spread mankind out across His earth* It is God who redeems to salvation, calling to every nation, tribe, and tongue* We have a burden to strive towards God's kingdom on earth - one of peace, of justice, and of righteousnessSo join us this month as we share short tributes each week to the struggles and celebrations of African Americans who have strived to make our world a better place through their gifts and through their faith.This week, elder Daniel Lumpkin lays out the purpose of Black History month, and invites you to join us in celebrating God's design for mankind.

Loving like Jesus is more than "natural" kindness... it's supernatural too. Jesus showed us how to love by healing people - in heart, in mind, and in body. And He's given us the power to continue loving like Him in all three ways.

The mission of the Church is to "love like Jesus". Some days more than others, that's hard work. And few parts of that are harder than forgiveness. But Jesus didn't just forgive - He forgave us, even though we were sinners. We could learn a thing or two from that kind of tough love.
